Long live Print, Long live Newspapers

Old habits die hard. This is probably one reason that I am an avid newspaper reader. I do not remember a day without newspaper(s). In an era of convergence and global commercial media market, it's being debated whether newspaper as a medium of mass information will survive or disappear.

McLuhan predicted annihilation of the printed word and yet his books were read by millions. The debate will continue. Newspapers will survive till the time newspapers continues to give what it requires to give to its readers: fairness, objectivity, diversity of opinions. Beyond that the distinct attributes of newspaper as a medium will assure that newspaper survives. And newspapers will survive till the time there are avid newspapers readers like me.
